SPARK! Engineering Festival 2017

We are pleased to announce that our School of Engineering will be exhibiting at the SPARK! 2017 Engineering Festival, Lincoln.

Held at Lincoln Cathedral, the 3-day event is a celebration of Lincolnshire’s Engineering Past, Present & Future and is due to start on Friday 5th May 2017. The Cathedral itself is an example of great Engineering, having been present for almost 1000 years, it is looked upon as one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe.

This year’s theme is ‘Back to the Future’ and will be a festivity of Lincolnshire’s pioneering excellence in the field. Spanning centuries, Lincolnshire’s Engineering history is vast and wide-ranging; from the eponymous Cathedral; the first tank ever built; its aviation industry; gas turbines and our School’s own partnership with Turbo-machinery giant, Siemens.

Our School of Engineering will be exhibiting at the 3-day event and there will be the chance to work alongside our academic staff and students, taking part in various activities!

Our School is the first purpose-built School of Engineering to be created in the UK for more than 20 years and is the result of an ongoing partnership between the University of Lincoln and Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery Ltd (SITL).

We are highly anticipating this year’s festival and hope it continues to ignite interest in Engineering across all ages.
